TAMPA AIRPORT OVERHEAD SIGN INSPECTIONS
TAMPA AIRPORT OVERHEAD SIGN INSPECTIONS
Assisting Ayres Associates, this project entailed initial and routine inspections of monotube and tri-chord overhead sign structures around the Tampa International Airport. The inspection work was done with minimal disturbance to the traveling public as lane closures and maintenance of traffic were not necessary.
At each sign location, a bucket truck was positioned at the base of the structure upright, either on the grass or on the shoulder and used to boom up to the structure horizontal. Rope access (webbing) techniques were used to safely exit the bucket and climb out onto the structure to inspect the splice connections and the sign panel and luminaire hardware. Conscious effort was made at all times to ensure that no equipment or rope was hanging below the bottom of the sign panels.
