ASSISTANT INSPECTOR – WORKING REMOTELY – FULL OR PART TIMEExpand

Job Description

The assistant inspector position entails both office and field duties associated with the full implementation of structural inspection procedures. Structure types include in-service bridges, overhead signs, traffic signal mast arms, high mast light poles, and retaining/bulkhead walls. The assistant inspector will be involved with the mobilization, on-site inspection and report processing under the guidance of a lead inspector.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Dedicated, at-home workspace and high-speed internet (hardware and software will be provided along with monthly stipends for the use of internet and cell phone).
  • Residence located in North or Central Florida
  • High School diploma
  • Bridge inspection experience preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in MS Office software, primarily Word and Excel
  • Willingness to travel and stay in hotels for up to 4 nights at a time, typically every other week
  • Skilled with the use of hand tools and basic power tools
  • Ability to operate equipment such as a powerboat and bucket truck (training provided)
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability and willingness to work in close proximity to heavy traffic and in environments with exposure to heat or inclement weather, mud, water, insects, snakes, and animals
  • Ability to perform manual labor such as carrying and using a ladder, lifting up to 50lbs., clearing shrubs, using a shovel, or traversing steep slopes

Job Description

The lead inspector position entails both office and field duties associated with the full implementation of structural inspection procedures. Structure types include in-service bridges, overhead signs, traffic signal mast arms, high mast light poles, and retaining/bulkhead walls. The lead inspector will be responsible for leading the mobilization, on-site inspection, and report processing efforts.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Dedicated at-home workspace and high-speed internet (hardware and software will be provided along with monthly stipends for the use of internet and cell phone).
  • Residence located in North or Central Florida
  • FDOT approved Safety Bridge Inspection Team Leader (CBI)
  • Understanding and experience with AASHTO Element level inspections
  • Experience with FDOT BrM & BMS databases preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office software, primarily Word and Excel
  • Willingness to travel and stay in hotels for up to 4 nights at a time, typically every other week
  • Capable of using hand tools and basic power tools
  • Ability to operate equipment such as a powerboat and bucket truck (training provided)
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
