SIMON KENTON BRIDGE INSPECTION
SIMON KENTON BRIDGE INSPECTION
The Simon Kenton Suspension Bridge crosses the Ohio River and connects Maysville Kentucky to Aberdeen Ohio. The bridge was built in 1931 and is 1,991 feet long – 1,060 feet of that is in the main span.
During the inspection, webbing climbing was used to access locations where the fracture critical verticals and suspenders tie into the upper chord of the stiffening truss. The approaches were inspected using a manlift and the main cable anchorages were inspected with access through manholes. This project did not include inspection of the towers or the suspender connections to the main cables.
