SEMINOLE COUNTY PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE INSPECTIONS
SEMINOLE COUNTY PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE INSPECTIONS
Seminole County, FL has a fantastic network of bike and multi-use paved trails and sidewalks. The County has much invested in the trails, including signature bridges such as the Cross Seminole Trail Cable Stay Bridge over I-4 and the curvy thru truss bridge over US 17-92.
This project entailed the inspection of numerous Seminole County pedestrian bridges, in 2007 and in 2009. In addition to the structures listed above, others inspected during this project include timber trestles, concrete multibeam, boxes, and t-beams, and steel multibeams, pony trusses and culverts. Most of the inspections were performed on foot, using a ladder, and with waders. Rope access, manlifts and bucket trucks were also used where necessary.
Another aspect to the project that Ms. Johnson was responsible for, was the development, from scratch, of a MS Access database designed to facilitate the management and organization of the County’s pedestrian bridge data including inventory, condition and appraisal data, maintenance and repair needs, and inspection scheduling and reporting.
