MIDGLEY & NAVAJO BRIDGE INSPECTIONS
MIDGLEY & NAVAJO BRIDGE INSPECTIONS
The Midgley Bridge, built in 1938, is a 374 foot long steel truss deck arch bridge that carries AZ A89 just north of Sedona. The bridge spans Wilson Canyon in an absolute picturesque fashion. This area is well known for it’s great hiking and red rock canyons.
The Navajo Bridges are parallel deck truss structures that carry US Route 89A; one built in 1929 (616 foot long arch span) and the other built in 1995 (726 foot long arch span). These bridges span Marble Canyon and the Colorado River not far north of the Grand Canyon.
Under the same ADOT Task Work Order, we performed biennial routine fracture critical inspections of these structures using rope access simultaneously with an under bridge inspection vehicle.
