ISAIAH D. HART BRIDGE INSPECTION
ISAIAH D. HART BRIDGE INSPECTION
The Isaiah D. Hart Bridge is a steel continuous through truss bridge that crosses the St. Johns River in Jacksonville Florida. The bridge is 3,844 feet long and has a 1,088 foot main span. The bridge deck is cable suspended for much of the main span. The bridge was built in the mid 1960’s (more than a decade after the neighboring Mathews Bridge) and is named after Isaiah David Hart, who was a plantation owner that founded the City of Jacksonville in 1822.
I was involved in the routine biennial fracture critical inspections of this bridge in 2015 and in 2009. In 2015, FIT was a subconsultant to Burgess & Niple, the Prime, and in 2009 I worked as an employee of Burgess & Niple, then a subconsultant to KCA.
